
The Sabres then had to take on the third place Cambridge Junior Fury in a best of five series. The Sabres worked very hard and came away with two come from behind wins. The first a 7-4 win in Cambridge then they followed with a 3-2 win at home.
The Sabres still need to earn that third win and will travel to Cambridge this Friday and return home to Mohawk on Saturday at 3:30 p. m. at Mohawk; if a fifth game is needed, they travel back to Cambridge on Sunday.

The deciding game turned out to be a very close-checking affair, with shots after the second period only 8-6 in favour of the Sabres, 19-12 in the end. The Sabres were able to cash in on a couple of chances and headed to the third period with a 2-0 lead. Rylee Smith opened the scoring by tipping in a great pass from Dallas Boyd with Arielle O’Neill picking up the second assist. Rebecca Smyth scored three minutes later from the slot after Kristen Clendinning fed her a pass with Melanie Desrochers picking up an assist.
In the third, the Sabres were able to hold off the Panthers with O’Neill scoring a shorthanded goal into the empty net with an assist to Shelby Wignall with under two minutes to go. Jenesica Drinkwater earned the shutout in the Sabres net.

In a high-paced game, the Sabres found themselves down by 2 goals twice and were able to fight back and pick up the win. The Sabres were down 2-0 after two minutes of the second after giving up two power play goals but were able to get onto equal terms in less than three minutes. Rylee Smith got one back her first of three on a pass from Dallas Boyd then Arielle O’Neill scored unassisted on breakaway.
In the third the Sabres gave up two goals in the first minute of the period but followed with five unanswered goals. Smith scored from close in off an O’Neill feed. Kristen Clendinning tied the game on rebound with Kristen Barbara and Emily Martz picking up the assists. Smith got her third and game winner a wrap around from Boyd and O’Neill. Boyd put the Sabres up by two on a power play from Smith and O’Neill. O’Neill sealed the deal with empty netter in the last minute from Smith and Boyd
Jenesica Drinkwater picked up the win in the Sabres nets as the Fury outshot the Sabres 32-20.
Jr. Sabres 3,Cambridge 2 2nd game of best of five series The Sabres found themselves down by two again after the first period but were able to cash in on two power play chances in the second period before they got the winner early in the third. Down 2-0, the team was able to get close with four minutes gone in the second when Dallas Boyd scored on a rebound while on a power play from Arielle O’Neill and Kelly McDonald. Kristen Barbara tied the game three minutes later on a power play when she converted into an open net at the edge of the crease. Kelly McDonald and Shelby Wignall picked up the assists.
Dallas Boyd got the winner three minutes into the third as she converted a rebound off a nice give and go by Rylee Smith and Arielle O’Neill. The Sabres then did a good job of shutting down the Fury to take the win.
Jenesica Drinkwater got the win and the Sabres had a 25-21 shot edge.
