Local business celebrating 25 years

For 25 years, Lillian's Passive Reducing Salon owner and operator Marylou Camilleri has been providing customers with a unique way of reducing and toning their body through the use of various massage beds that help them to not only lose inches but also feel better physically. The salon has been serving Hamilton customers for 70 years.

Ms. Camilleri became involved in the business in 1981, following a car accident.

"The doctors had considered doing some surgery on my lower back and I was heavy; I was 257 pounds and my father had had back surgery and he told me more or less to stay away from the knife," she said. "My GP said to me, 'Marylou, why don't you try this salon I've been hearing about.' So he sent me here and that was 27 years ago. I ended up losing 100 pounds and 95 inches. I believed so much in this business, I bought it."

Ms. Camilleri says hitting 25 years feels great.

"When I came into this business, I didn't come into it for money purposes, it was more or less because of the way it helped me," she said. "I thought that if it could help me, there's so many other people out there that I could help and I have helped a lot of people and that's the best part of it."
