Captain Alison L. McDonald holds up...
Captain Alison L. McDonald holds up one of the Quilts of Valour that will go to a wounded soldier. McDonald is active in the Canadian Armed Forces Reserve; her son is deployed in the Afghanistan war zone.
Approximately the size of a single bed, a Quilt of Valour is big enough to cover a soldier, but not so big so that it can’t be used by a soldier in a wheelchair.
Captain Alison L. McDonald of the Canadian Armed Forces Reserve who works with the national Quilts Of Valour program commented, “We like to think of the Quilts Of Valour as Canada giving a hug to a wounded Canadian soldier.”
At St. John’s Anglican Church in Winona this Sunday, April 18, at 10 a. m., a very special service will be held to bless the Quilts Of Valour before they are sent to our soldiers. The Right Reverend Michael Bird, Bishop of Niagara will be in attendance. The Quilts Of Valour come from all over southern Ontario made by volunteers.
The public is invited to attend this service to show their support for our wounded Canadian soldiers. St. John’sAnglicanChurchis located at the intersection of Winona Road and Highway 8.
