Prorogue no holiday for members of parliament
Letters
Feb 04, 2010
I’m writing in response to all the slashing of the Conservative government proroguing Parliament. Are these individuals stuck in the dark ages? This has been going on since the beginning of time. It is a part of the system. Every government who holds power has done this many times over.

Yes, I know its all about freedom of speech, stand up for your party and slam all other political enemies and good for you, this is also a part of the system. At least look at things objectively and be honest about it, this is nothing new.

I’ve read some articles with people saying that it is just politicians getting paid using taxpayers’ money for an extended holiday. I didn’t think it was possible for anyone to know less than me about politics.

Are you kidding me? Do you really believe the politicians are lying on a beach in the Cayman drinking Havana Club? Sitting back laughing at all of us? If they are, then my bad. I guess I would be the naive one in this case.

I would like to think they have returned to their own communities to discuss issues and local concerns with the people there and work on political strategies to resolve those issues for when they return to the capital. You have to believe they all know they are being watched as well. The last thing a politician needs is bad publicity.
