Police are looking to the public for help in finding a man they believe is responsible for three recent robberies.
Officers with the BEAR (break, enter, auto theft and robbery) unit say a Rymal Road gas station robbery June 26 and two Mac's store robberies early Thursday are the work of the same individual.
Police said a masked man entered the Olco Gas Kiosk located at 2241 Rymal Rd East around 3:11 a.m. on June 26, pointed a gun at the clerk and robbed him of cash. The handgun was partially covered with a T-shirt, and the suspect's face was masked with a scarf. The suspect entered the passenger side of a white, early '90s Honda Civic hatchback.
Yesterday morning, the same man is believed to have robbed a Mac's convenience store on the west Mountain and another store two hours later in Stoney Creek.
Around 2:10 a.m., in the store located at 1300 Garth St., a masked man with what was believed to be a handgun wrapped in a blue bandana struck the clerk several times before the victim handed over some cash. The suspect entered the passenger side of a black, four-door Chrysler Intrepid.
Around 4:10 a.m., at the convenience store located at 521 Highway 8, Stoney Creek. He fled in a black, four-door Chrysler Intrepid.
The suspect in all of the robberies is described as male, black, early 20s, between 5'9 and 6' tall, and about 160 pounds with a skinny build. He was wearing a light-coloured hoodie, dark pants and shoes. During the robberies he concealed his face with a T-shirt.
Police said in all the incidents, a second person was driving the vehicle, but no description of this suspect is available.
The vehicle used in the July 2 robberies is believed to be a Chrysler Intrepid stolen in Grimsby and later recovered abandoned on Regis Court near the Mac's on Highway 8.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-522-TIPS.
