Simons is the defending 2007 Provincial and National Beach Volleyball Champion.
Grade 10 Saltfleet volleyball player Taylor Simons finished her 2008 beach volleyball season last week in Ashbridges Bay with yet more hardware and many more accomplishments.
Simons, the defending 2007 Provincial and National Beach Volleyball Champion, had to move up an age division this year and compete against players up to two years her senior.
Undaunted by size and/or age, Simons was successful in defending her provincial title and was able to capture bronze in the Canadian Nationals, finishing as the top Ontario Team, with Manitoba capturing both the silver and gold.
This summer, Simons was also named to the Learn to Compete Ontario Provincial Beach Volleyball Team for athletes 17 and under and was the winner of the AAU Jr. Olympic Qualifer which had her travelling to the USA where she and her partner finished a amazing yet disappointing fifth due to some injuries.
Along with all the beach competition this summer, Simons also dabbled in a little indoor play when she was chosen as a underage player to play on the 3A Regional Team that competed in the Ontario Summer Games in Ottawa.
Simons, one of the co-captains, led her team to a fourth place finish.
Simons now prepares to begin her 2008 indoor season with the Durham Attack Club, the reigning Indoor Provincial 15U and 16U Ontario Champions as well as the Eastern Canadian National Champions.
Last year, this amazing team lost only two matches throughout the season in both age divisions.
