
Forty-eight lawn bowlers packed the New Hamburg greens on June 22 in a jitney that was sponsored by Home Hardware.
Players from Ayr, Elmira, Preston, Galt, Kitchener, Guelph and the local club enjoyed an afternoon of sun, fun, hail, lightning, thunder and rain.

Sam Sferrazza and Sheila Minsk (1-2) won the consolation prize in a mixed pairs tournament in Guelph on June 14. Roy and Doris Blake (1-2) along with Robert Shantz and Grace Sferrazza (0-3) also competed in the 16 team event.
Ruth Cottingham and Doris Blake (1-2) won the consolation prize in Elora on June 18 in a ladies pairs tournament.
At the annual strawberry and ice cream jitney in Preston on June 21, Roy Blake, Wayne West, Helen Murray, Ruth Cottingham and Ron Cottingham all won prizes while Tina Toman and Doris Blake enjoyed their dessert.
Recent two game winners at the local greens were Ida Lackey, Ron Cottingham, Amelia Uhrig, Rod Grant, Jean Wright, Winnifred Thompson, Robert Shantz, Sam Sferrazza and Roy Blake.
The third annual ladies pairs Ruth Luckhart Tournament will be hosted by New Hamburg on July 7, starting at 10 a.m. Twenty teams have entered, making it a full house. Erb Transport is sponsoring the event.
