In February, 28 Mountain View School Grade 6 and 7 students learned how to knit to make squares for the Wellwood Resource Centre of Hamilton. The centre, which provides free supportive care programs to people living with cancer or caring for someone with cancer, will use the squares to make blankets for McMaster University Cancer Clinic chemotherapy patients. Under the leadership of teacher Stephen Hua and the help of volunteers Harvinder Sihra, Christine Giula, Argia Cowle, Mavis Brown and Judi Davies, the students made 109 squares. "We did it to help keep the patients warm and to brighten their day a little bit," said Grade 6 student Jas Sihra. Pictured here, the students, along with Mr. Hua, Ms. Sihra, Ms. Giula and Ms. Cowle show off their squares. Missing are Ms. Brown and Ms. Davies.
