Family Room brings Ronald McDonald House into the hospital

Children's hospital patient William Blackmore and his mom Melissa (left) were the centre of attention during the opening of the Ronald McDonald Family Room at McMaster Children's Hospital. William and his mom were joined by local Ronald McDonald House executive director Pearl Wolfe (right), who led the drive for the room -- just the second across Canada.

Fourteen-year-old Elena Jacob won Stoney Creek Idol earlier this month. Her mom Mary says Elena would "be willing to sing at anytime for anybody." Elena has been taking vocal lessons for six years at Rayne Records. The Stoney Creek U11 boys soccer team played in the Welland Rose City Tournament last weekend and won it all, beating Fort Erie in a double overtime, seven-man penalty shot game.
