Community members, family and friends attended the unveiling of a plaque at Stoney Creek Olde Towne Square Saturday in honour of Ron Place. Mr. Place, who died in 2006, was a Stoney Creek Citizen of the Year and active with the Stoney Creek Canada Flag Day parade, Seniors' Outreach Services and the Friends of Battlefield and Battlefield House Museum. The plaque, commissioned by the Stoney Creek Historical Society, reads, "In memory of Ron Place whose dedication to preserving the heritage of Stoney Creek was exceeded only by his many years of involvement in this community."
