Hundreds of young baseball players, coaches, volunteers and family members attended Stoney Creek Optimist Little League's opening ceremonies May 10. The day included player introductions, a barbecue, activities and a tribute to Murray Macdonald, a longtime Little League volunteer, who died last November.

Super Cheer Scorpions Stoney Creek club's all-star junior and senior cheerleading teams competed at the NACP Cheer Alliance Nationals Competition in Mississauga May 2 to May 4. The juniors placed first and the seniors took home second place. The competition includes high chools, elementary schools, all-star clubs, parents' teams, special needs teams and individual and stunt group competitors, ranging in age from three to 50.
